A life in sound,
shaped by curiosity.
Karl Seminaro is a Canadian pianist currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music. He previously studied Music Performance at Vanier College, from which he graduated. Karl began his musical studies on violin at age five and turned to piano at age nine.
His early education was enriched by more than seven years as a chorister with Les Petits Chanteurs de Laval, performing at Place des Arts, the Maison symphonique de Montréal, and on international and Canadian tours.
His development includes training in solfège and musical dictation through the UQAM-affiliated examination program, formative study with Paul Surdulescu, and work with Dr. Julia Gavrilova at Vanier College. His competition successes include second prize at the 2023 Concours du Festival de Lanaudière and first prize at the 2024 UQAM Marcelle-Corneille Competition.
A repertoire spanning the Romantic and twentieth centuries, and a deep interest in the history, philosophy, and broader cultural context of music.
A growing relationship with the canon — and beyond.
